Meet The Team
Jade Barnett
PRESIDENT. CEO
As a veteran, I have experienced firsthand the challenges of transitioning back to civilian life. Upon completing 20 years of service, I found myself struggling to adjust to a new routine, and I was really missing the camaraderie of my teams.
Many, like myself, led a very fast-paced career, deployed often, and didn’t look up until our race was over. Yes, the new “slower” pace of life was something we always talked about, but we had no way of knowing what that actually looked like.
What I quickly discovered is that in the pursuit of a more balanced life, I finally found time to be still and began enjoying all the missed moments with my wife and children.

What I did not prepare for was the newfound quietness that would leave me grappling with all the mental and emotional baggage I had compartmentalized over the years.
I was introduced to the game of golf in my late 20s. I picked up the game because it allowed me the opportunity to satisfy my competitive spirit as the basketball courts and football fields started producing more injuries than victories.
Although I always enjoyed golfing for the competition, it wasn’t until I was a couple of years removed from the military that I truly fell in love with the game. Whether I’m walking the course alone, working through the voices in my head, or meeting up with 16 of my peers to represent Team USA in our annual Ryder Cup tournament, golf has provided me with a sense of purpose, camaraderie, and a way to connect with my community.
Through golf, I was able to find healing, build new relationships, and rediscover my sense of self. Golf has been more than just a game. Inspired by my own experiences and those of my peers, I founded Greenside Heroes, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting veterans and their families through the game of golf.
In addition to connecting and inspiring all veterans, Greenside Heroes strives to provide economic aid, college scholarships, and financial planning to those who find themselves short-sided in life — whose ability to earn and provide for their families has been severely impacted.
